“Motherhood is near to divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind” (Howard W. Hunter). If women are capable to acquire one of the most rewarding and important jobs in this life, should they be able to raise a baby, even if they aren’t necessarily ready? Though there is no specific age set for when a women is able to bring a child into this world, why start if a female is still growing up herself? A baby is a precious gift that needs tender care and love, from one who has experienced enough to give him or her just that.

In today’s society it is believed that a women should have a fully established life before bringing another human being into it. Yet, each year about 300,000 women form the ages of 15 to 19 become pregnant in the United States (Center for disease control and prevention: teen births). If there is no specific age set as to when a female can become a mother, why are young girls “frowned upon” when they get pregnant while still adolescents? Teenage mothers are at the top of the list for high school drop outs. If a women doesn’t have enough education that can either mean she will expect more from her child then she could accomplish, or not care enough to make them attend school because she created a decent life for her child without a degree. Older mothers have more education, which gives them more opportunities for a substantial life for their baby. It also gives mothers the convenience of being able to teach their child all that they need to know, giving the woman more quality time with her baby. Young mothers try to be more of a friend to their child, which shows that discipline may not always be in the picture. Older mothers however, may be better at teaching their child right from wrong, simply because they have more experience in life, and are much wiser than a young mom.
