The Bible is the most important reference for a Christian today. The New Testament concentrates on the life of Jesus. Through Jesus’ teachings and leading by example, Christianity have developed faith towards living a good and faithful life using the gospel and values that are in the Bible. Jesus’ death meant that everyone has the chance to have all of their sins forgiven. Two important teachings are always forgive one another and show compassion towards one another. These teachings are found in the Bible passages ‘The Prodigal Son’ Luke 15: 11-32, and ‘Jesus Cleanses the Leper’ Mark 1:40-45.

Through his teachings and actions Jesus taught Christians the importance of forgiveness. Jesus shows forgiveness in many ways. The father in the story represents God the Father for he gladly receives his son as part of his family. When the son displays repentance and begs for forgiveness and acknowledges his sin the father receives him with joyous celebration. This is how God feels when we believe and repent. In my daily life I sometimes don’t wish to go to Church because you have to get up early on a Sunday morning and I just want to sleep in. But afterwards I feel guilty because I realize I am just being selfish. If Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice, his life, so that our sins could be forgiven, I can at least get up early for Church.
